Fruit growers in Vojvodina, Serbia are starting to harvest early varieties of cherries, approximately a month earlier than last year, due to an earlier start of vegetation across Europe. The harvest is slightly lower this year due to frost, but orchardists expect good prices. The region, which is one of Serbia's fruit-growing basins, grows cherries on 2,000 hectares and expects to harvest around 10,000 tons. The average yield is about 5 tons per hectare.
