In 2020, seafood exports in Indonesia fell by 7.4% to $2.32 billion due to the pandemic's impact, with traditional exports like tuna, abalone, and flatfish seeing a decrease. However, seaweed exports hit a record high, and processed products also saw an increase. The largest export of the year was recorded in December at $235 million. The Ministry used non-face-to-face marketing and an integrated platform for Korean seafood online export to maintain export performance. Despite these efforts, seafood exports still fell by about 7.4% from the previous year. The Ministry aims to recover $2.5 billion in seafood exports in 2021 by expanding non-face-to-face export support and developing high-value-added processed seafood products.
