[Agricultural and Livestock Products Newspaper=Reporter Nam-jong Lee] A cloud of gloom has descended on South Korea's tractor export industry. The U.S. "reciprocity tariff" executive order, which came into effect on the 7th of last month, imposes a blanket 15% additional tariff on South Korean products, lighting up warning signals on the front line of exports to the U.S. In particular, the U.S. has announced its intention to use Section 232 to raise tariffs on steel and aluminum by 50% and to expand the application to over 400 derivative items, including tractor parts. Therefore, while the 15% tariff will be applied as is to general parts attached to tractors, a separate 50% tariff will be applied to steel and aluminum parts.
