Experts from the analytical company Expana have updated the forecast for grain production in the European Union for the 2025/26 season, predicting that soft wheat production will reach a record level, and barley production will hit a 17-year high, reports Reuters. In particular, the estimate for soft wheat production in the EU for the current season has been increased by 0.3 million tons per month to 136.4 million tons, which is 22.8 million tons more than the 2024/25 harvest. The forecast for barley production has been increased by 0.2 million tons to 56.4 million tons (+6.2 million tons per year). Meanwhile, despite the upward adjustment of the forecast for corn production in the EU by 0.8 million tons per month to 56.5 million tons, this figure remains 2.5 million tons below the previous year's figure and is the second lowest since 2007.
