Spain's acting Minister of Agriculture, Carmen Crespo, has called for a delay in the implementation of the eco-schemes under the Agrarian Policy Common (cap), arguing that they will burden farmers instead of incentivizing them. She also highlighted the need for a review of associated aid and payment stipulations for beet, and the continued cultivation of fallow fields. Crespo also stressed the importance of addressing Andalusia's requests in the modified Strategic Plan of the cap and achieving equality in community property. Additionally, she addressed the need for support measures to mitigate rising production costs, including tax reductions and bonuses for desalinated water, and expressed concerns about a proposed regulation reducing the use of phytosanitary products, arguing that it could lead to greater losses for the sector without considering climatic and agronomic differences across member states.
