The article provides an in-depth analysis of the average prices of Andalusian garlic during the 2020/21 season, from May 2020 to April 2021. It highlights an 8% increase in the garlic cultivation area in Andalusia, leading to a 14% rise in total garlic production. The majority of this production was spring garlic. The average price at origin was €1.02/kg, a 14% increase from the previous season, due to the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on garlic consumption and transport issues in the Asian market. Despite initial price stability, they rose in the campaign's latter half, possibly due to COVID-19-related supply and logistics challenges and a rise in garlic demand due to its health benefits. Both spring and purple garlic varieties saw price increases compared to the previous season.
