Angola's national agricultural production saw a 5% increase in 2020 compared to 2019, as per the country's minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Júnior. This growth is attributed to the government's policies aimed at boosting domestic production and reducing reliance on imports, with food imports decreasing by 24% in 2020. The private agricultural sector, especially in Malanje, played a significant role in this increase, particularly in corn production. However, challenges such as high wheat flour prices and poor access to production areas were highlighted by local businesspersons. In response, the government plans to launch a public tender for 500 vehicles to facilitate the movement of goods and will consider opening Development Bank of Angola representation in each province.
