South Korea is set to expand its food safety requirements for livestock product imports to include all animal-based foods by June 14, 2024. The expansion will involve six stages of evaluation to ensure food safety, including an export hygiene certificate every time an export takes place. The government will also require eggs to undergo tests for two additional types of salmonella, in an effort to prevent food poisoning outbreaks. These new regulations will apply to food manufacturers producing and exporting processed animal-based products, and only products from countries that meet these requirements will be allowed into South Korea.
