Iran's tea production is expected to reach 145,000 tons this year, with 45,000 tons already harvested. The country consumes about 100,000 tons of tea annually, sourcing 30,000 tons domestically and importing the rest. The main harvest season starts in May in the northern provinces of Gilan and Mazandaran, which produce 90% of Iran's tea. Iran exports tea to countries like Azerbaijan, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Tea imports have dropped by 62% in the first 10 months of the year, while exports have decreased by 58.1% compared to the previous year.
