Argentina: Another positive case of avian influenza was confirmed in backyard birds in Córdoba

Buenos Aires - The National Agri-Food Health and Quality Service (Senasa) confirmed a case of avian influenza (AI) H5 in backyard birds on a property in the province of Córdoba, bringing the total number of detections of the disease to 7 in that Argentine state . The Senasa National Laboratory today diagnosed the positive case for AI H5 in samples taken from backyard birds (chickens, ducks and geese) from an establishment located in the Cordoba town of Los Álvarez, in Santa Rosa del Río Primero. After the confirmation of the case, agents of the Córdoba Regional Center of Senasa carried out the corresponding sanitary actions in the property in question. In this way, with more than 100 notifications attended by Senasa, there are 12 confirmed cases in wild and backyard birds to date (7 in Córdoba, 1 Buenos Aires; 1 in Jujuy; 1 in Neuquén; 1 in Salta and 1 in Santa Fe).
