A shipment of Burmese grapes has been exported from Guwahati to Dubai, the first step in boosting the export potential of agricultural and processed food products from the north-eastern states of India. The consignment was sourced and packed in Assam and exported by Kiega EXIM, an APEDA-registered company. APEDA has also facilitated the export of 'red rice' and 'Assam lemon' to the USA and Europe, respectively, and has provided financial assistance to set up a pack house in Guwahati for the export of fresh fruits and vegetables to Europe. The organization plans to continue focusing on the north-eastern region to build capacity, upgrade quality, and develop infrastructure.
