The article highlights the current state of apple and pear cultivation in the Netherlands, as reported by Statistics Netherlands. The total area dedicated to apples is 5,911 hectares, a decrease of 61 ha from the previous year, while pear cultivation remains steady at 10,099 hectares, with a slight increase of 33 ha since 2021. The reduction in apple cultivation is largely due to a decline in popular varieties such as Jonagold, with the area for this variety decreasing by 32 ha. Despite this, the total area for pears has seen only minor changes, with the main varieties experiencing stable growth. The area under cultivation for other pear varieties, however, has seen a significant increase of 33 ha.
