The 2022/23 apple harvest forecast by WAPA was initially expected to match the previous year's volume. However, due to drought and heat waves in August 2022, particularly in Poland, the largest producer, the harvest is expected to yield smaller apples and lower volumes. Preliminary estimates suggest the final volume may be smaller than anticipated due to labor shortages. As of 1 July 2022, Poland had apple stocks amounting to 518,930 tons, slightly above the five-year average. The sector is currently facing several challenges, including adjustments to the harvest expectations.
