Due to heavy rains and floods, apple production in Kashmir is expected to decrease by 50% this year, after reaching 1.87 million tons last year. Almost all apples in India are grown in Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh, with less than 2% being exported mainly to Bangladesh and Nepal. Additionally, India has become the second-largest importer of apples globally, with the main suppliers being Iran and Turkey, but other countries like Italy, Chile, New Zealand, and Poland have also seen significant increases in their apple exports to India.
