Europe's apple production has been impacted by various challenges, including logistics, energy, fertilizer costs, and manpower shortages, particularly due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. As a result, production estimates have been revised, with Poland, Italy, and France experiencing difficulties. Poland, the continent's leading apple producer, has seen increased production but faces high costs and harvest delays. Italy's harvest sizes are relatively stable, with a shift in production volumes, and France's harvest estimates have been revised down due to a heatwave. The European Union's total apple harvest for 2022/23 is estimated at 12.2 million tons, with Poland producing 4.75 million tonnes.
