Apples have become twice as expensive, eggs 1.7 times: how prices for groceries have changed over the year

In August 2025, prices for most products noticeably increased compared to the same month last year, according to data from the State Statistics Service. The price of apples soared the most over the year – by 148.2%: if last year a kilogram of this fruit cost 28.3 UAH, then in August this year it was already 70.3 UAH. Eggs increased in price by 77.4% – from 31.4 to 55.8 UAH per dozen. Meat and poultry prices rose by more than a third: chicken fillet by 37.5% (to 264 UAH), pork by 36.8% (to 249 UAH), chicken carcasses by 35.9% (to 118 UAH). Beef prices increased by 22.9%. The increase in bread prices, depending on the type, amounted to 20.9% for premium wheat bread and 19.4% for rye bread. Cereal prices also rose: barley increased the most by 37.8% (to 23.5 UAH) and semolina by 29.6% (to 29.4 UAH).
