The Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants in Vietnam has developed soybean varieties, D9 and D10, resistant to rust, but due to the fungus's adaptability, a single resistance gene is not sufficient. The institute is now selecting soybean varieties with multiple resistance genes using molecular markers and DNA analysis. A promising variety, D11, has been identified, which has a higher resistance phenotype and longer growth period. This research is crucial as Vietnam's soybean production has declined, meeting only a small part of the demand, and the average yield is lower than global standards. The institute is not only focusing on variety development but also emphasizing the importance of technical staff for improved soybean production.
