The Korea Forest Service (Head: Park Eun-sik) announced on the 27th that it will be accepting applications for the first phase of the "2027 Wood Pellet Boiler and Stove Promotion Project." This support project is operated in a preemptive manner, allowing the installation of wood pellet boilers and stoves before the actual use year, in order to prepare for the winter months (January and February) when the cold weather truly sets in. After the first phase application acceptance which started in April, the second phase application acceptance will be the final phase, planned for the latter half of the year. Eligibility for the application includes individuals who can commit to using a wood pellet burner for five years after self-installation, or those who have used government subsidies to install wood pellet boilers and stoves and have passed five years since the installation. The scope of support is divided into residential use and social welfare facility use, with residential boilers receiving a subsidy of 70% of the product price, and social welfare boilers receiving 100% of the product price. Wood pellets are internationally recognized as a leading carbon-neutral renewable energy source, an eco-friendly fuel that replaces fossil fuels. The use of 1kg of wood pellets has the effect of replacing 0.4L of kerosene, thereby reducing carbon emissions by 1.14kg of CO2. Applications for this project can be submitted through the administrative welfare centers of the relevant cities, counties, and districts or townships, myeon, and dong until May 11.
