Aquaculture production in Russia increased by 7.5%

Russian aquaculture and mariculture enterprises produced 383.5 thousand tons of products in 2022. This is 7.5% more than a year earlier, according to the Federal Agency for Fisheries. At the same time, last year the production volumes of salmon outstripped cyprinids for the first time. Thus, the production of trout and salmon amounted to 154 thousand tons, which is 19.4 thousand tons more than in 2021. The volume of output of cyprinids increased slightly and amounted to 146.8 thousand tons. The production of valuable seafood increased by 16% to 68 thousand tons. Last year, crabs began to be grown in Russia - their production amounted to almost 100 tons. Sturgeon species of fish were grown in the country 6.4 thousand tons - 4% more than a year earlier. The volume of catch of fish and seafood, according to preliminary data from the Federal Agency for Fishery, in 2022 exceeded 4.88 million tons.
