Arabs import less Brazilian beef in 2020

The three main Arab countries that buy Brazilian beef had a drop in imported volume in 2020, compared to 2019. In the year, Egypt was the second largest buyer of Brazilian beef, with 127,953 tons. The volume, however, represented a drop of 23% in relation to 2019. Saudi Arabia, sixth in the general ranking, with 41,067 tons, also had a drop of 4.4% in volume compared to 2019. Following are the United Arab Emirates , with 40,860 tons, a drop of 44.2% in the volume purchased in 2020 compared to the previous year. The data were released by the Brazilian Refrigerators Association (Abrafrigo) on Friday (08), based on the compilation of information from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex / Decex) of the Ministry of Economy. For 2021, the association expects growth in imports from markets such as the Arab countries.
