Is the import of the Belgian Conference pears onto the market shelves just before the harvest in Poland just ordinary business? Many orchardists and traders notice that it is a deliberate move to "stir up" the domestic market. For another consecutive year, we are observing the same situation with pears. By a strange coincidence, Conference pears from Belgium appeared in the stores of the largest supermarket chain at the turn of August and September. The orchardists claim that this is not a matter of chance... On the one hand, we do not produce enough pears in Poland to satisfy the domestic demand throughout the year. Moreover, we do not store these fruits long enough to be available until the start of the new harvest. Therefore, the import is not a bad thing and increases systematically every year from March to the beginning of the harvest.
