Argentina deepened its trade deficit with Brazil

Although the commercial exchange between Argentina and Brazil improved by 15.2% year-on-year in May and totaled US$ 3,092 million, the bilateral trade balance ended with a deficit of US$ 763 million for the country, according to a report prepared by the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC). The improvement compared to April was 21.1% with an increase in exports of 31% and imports by 15.8%, although the interannual measurement shows a drop in Argentine exports to Brazil by 4.8% ( second consecutive month of decline), totaling U$S 1,164 million, while imports from that destination amounted to U$S 1,927 million, with an interannual increase of 32%. Trade between both countries accumulated in the first five months of the year a negative balance for Argentina of US$ 2,538 million.
