Argentina dictates health emergency after confirmation of avian influenza in wild goose

Buenos Aires - The National Agrifood Health and Quality Service (Senasa) declared a health emergency throughout the national territory, after laboratory confirmation of the first case of avian influenza in a wild Andean goose in Laguna de los Pozuelos, located to the north from the province of Jujuy. The measure was issued through Resolution 147/2023, published on February 16 in the Official Gazette, with the signature of the president of Senasa, Diana Guillen. The norm authorizes Senasa to promote control, prevention and surveillance measures, adopting extraordinary sanitary actions that help to maintain the sanitary status of the country with respect to avian influenza and to dictate the pertinent measures, in accordance with current regulations and with the respective operating manuals, taking into account the international criteria and standards on the matter.
