Argentina exports wheat to China for the first time

China's agricultural giant COFCO, operating in Argentina, will ship 65,000 tons of wheat from the Port of Timbues. Meanwhile, another cargo ship named "Obsession" will set sail on the 12th of this month, carrying 20,000 tons of wheat; the third cargo ship "Anastasia K" will depart on the 23rd, with a shipment of 2.2 million tons. According to the plans of the National Bulk Goods and Port Management Authority of Argentina (Nabsa), these two batches totaling 42,000 tons of export business are handled by Cargill. However, despite Nabsa having registered the relevant information, a source from Cargill responded that after verification, no record of the transaction was found. Starting from January 2024, Argentina has obtained the qualification to export wheat to China. According to the notification from the Argentine Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries at that time, the General Administration of Customs of China has included Argentine wheat enterprises qualified for export in the "Overseas Enterprise Quarantine Registration System for Imported Animals, Plants and Their Products".
