Argentina: Extreme weather threatens corn and soybean crops

In recent days, temperatures in many agricultural production areas of Argentina have consistently approached the 40°C threshold. The country's main crops, which hold the world's leading position in the export of sunflower oil and soybean oil, and rank third in corn, are in urgent need of additional rainfall. However, according to weather experts, widespread rain is likely to appear only from February onwards. Weather experts say that the current heatwave will directly reduce corn yields, forcing organizations to adjust production forecasts downward in the coming period. Early-planted corn is the group most severely affected.
