The National Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA) published Resolution 841/2025, a measure that marks a before and after in the livestock management of Argentina. With this resolution, the country approves the technical standard that establishes the National Electronic Identification System for Animals, making the use of electronic identification devices mandatory for bovine, buffalo, and cervid livestock at the national level. The measure will come into full effect on January 1, 2026, and aims to strengthen animal health, food safety, and the commercial competitiveness of the Argentine livestock sector. The initiative is in line with the objectives of Law No. 27,233, which declares all actions related to sanitary control and traceability in agricultural production to be of national interest.
