(NAP) The Argentine Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries has made official Resolution 189/2025, which introduces modifications to the "Quality Standard XVIII for the Commercialization of Grain Sorghum," in effect since 1994. The measure, published in the Official Bulletin, aims to raise the quality standards of Argentine sorghum, the main export input to China, which since 2021 has significantly increased its purchase volumes from the country. Among the most relevant changes are the update of tolerances in categories such as damaged grains, foreign matter, non-grain sorghum, and broken grains. Additionally, the hectoliter weight is incorporated as a new control parameter, already present in standards for other cereals and in competing countries, and new definitions of categories are added to achieve a more precise classification of the grain.
