Argentina's soybean processing volumes dropped by 29% in 2023 to 27 million tons, the lowest since 2004, due to a 56% decrease in soybean production. This led to a significant raw material shortage for the domestic vegetable oil industry. However, the impact was somewhat offset by imported soybeans, which made up over 36% of processed oilseeds. Notably, the proportion of soybean supplies from Brazil in Argentina’s total oilseed imports rose to 39% from 9% the previous year.
