Argentina's Customs authority has stopped the export of 121 tons of garlic to Brazil and Chile due to concerns that the suppliers do not have the necessary production capacity to support the declared exports. The customs agency has asked for the necessary documentation to prove the legal possession of the garlic and no response has been received. A Brazilian company has been sued for providing fake credit notes to hide the lack of foreign exchange earnings on a $156,000 export. The Customs agency is investigating this case in collaboration with the Argentine embassy in Brazil.
