At the Qingdao Fisheries Expo, Nicolas Cagliolo, Commercial Director of Argentina’s Estrella Patagonica, discussed the pricing and market trends for Argentine red shrimp for the upcoming season. He mentioned a slight increase in L2 specification prices while L1 prices remain stable, which will help maintain the product’s price throughout 2024. The industry is looking into opportunities in Asian and European markets as imports from China have decreased. The production season for Argentine red shrimp, known for its sustainability, runs from November to February, with an annual production of approximately 200,000 tons. Cagliolo underlined the importance of marketing campaigns in China to distinguish wild Argentine red shrimp from farmed shrimp and to highlight the unique benefits of Argentine products to rekindle market interest.
