Peru's agro-industrial exports to Asia reached over $262 million in the first quarter of 2025, representing a 3.81% increase compared to the same period the previous year. According to the Peruvian Exporters Association (ADEX), fresh and processed products were shipped to 34 Asian countries, demonstrating the growing reach of Peru's fruit and vegetable industry in the region. The main destinations are China (22.5%), Hong Kong (16.5%), and South Korea (16%), followed by Japan, Taiwan, and Malaysia. Although total figures are increasing, some key markets like China and Hong Kong experienced significant declines. Exports to China dropped by 12.4%, primarily due to decreased shipments of avocados and fresh grapes, though products like tara powder and seaweed saw substantial increases. Hong Kong imports fell by nearly 18%, but China remained a solid buyer of grapes and avocados. In South Korea, figures remained stable with mixed results: grape and mango exports slightly decreased, while avocado and bean exports increased. Japan, which more than doubled its imports (+121%), and Taiwan, which increased imports by nearly 30%, also performed well. Turkey's imports notably jumped by over 450%, driven by increased demand for Peruvian fresh products. Despite market fluctuations, Peru's fruit and vegetable exports remain resilient, reflecting both geographical diversification and product offering adaptability. These figures confirm that Asia is a vital and growing market for Peruvian agriculture in 2025.
