In 2024, Germany's asparagus harvest saw a 3% decrease, totaling around 108,100 tonnes, with Lower Saxony being the leading producer. Despite this decline, asparagus remained the country's most cultivated vegetable, occupying 19,800 hectares of land, which is 3% less than the previous year. The federal states of Lower Saxony, Brandenburg, Bavaria, and North Rhine-Westphalia accounted for 75% of the total harvest. The 2023 Agricultural Structure Survey reported that seasonal workers made up 28% of the agricultural workforce, a decrease from 31% in 2013.
