Kim Mun-su, Chairman of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly (from the Democratic Party of Korea, Sinan 1), strongly urged for the "increase in national funding for the pilot project of rural basic income" during the 2nd plenary session of the 395th 2nd regular session on the 17th. This proposal emphasizes the necessity and policy expansion of rural basic income as a fundamental solution to the national crisis of population decline, aging, and regional extinction in rural areas. The "pilot project of rural basic income" is a project adopted as a national task by the government to respond to the crisis of population extinction and to eliminate regional disparities. It plans to select seven counties from 69 regions with population decline across the country and operate them on a pilot basis for two years starting next year.
