The National Beef Livestock Association (Assocon) in Brazil is part of a working group to review beef export contracts to China, with a focus on revising health protocol terms. This follows a suspension of beef exports to China due to an atypical Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) case, which has affected the production chain and led to concerns about export regulations and their impact on the meat industry. The working group will present changes to the current protocol to the Ministry, and is also considering an animal traceability program to provide swifter responses to sanitary emergencies.
