The project under the jurisdiction of Rosrybolovstvo at the Astrakhan State Technical University (ASTU) has received a grant from the Russian Science Foundation. The new feeds are intended for valuable aquaculture objects: sturgeons, carps, Australian crayfish, and freshwater shrimp. At the end of the first year of work on the recipe, samples were obtained, which are currently undergoing testing. Within the next two years, it is planned to complete the evaluation of the effectiveness and safety of the product. Scientists at ASTU have improved fish feed by adding microbial protein - gaprin. It is produced from methane using microorganisms that process natural gas. The resulting biomass consists of 60-70% protein. At the same time, the microbes grow 500 times faster than the most productive agricultural crops and 1000-5000 times faster than agricultural animals.
