At least 70% of Bolivian quinoa production is sold to Peru

(Agraria.pe) The president of the Regulatory Council of the Denomination of Origin of Quinoa of Alplinano del Sur, Benjamín Huarachi, pointed out that at least 70% of Bolivian quinoa production is sold to Peru. This situation responds to the fact that prices are favorable in this market due to the scarcity of the harvest, while clients (businessmen) in Bolivia offer less than half the value for the aforementioned grain. Thus, the manager highlighted that the price of quinoa has improved and now ranges between 650 and 680 bolivianos per quintal, an amount that is paid in Peru. In this way, he considered that exporting to this country is the best option for producers.
