The All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) has developed a comprehensive program to restore the whitefish stock in the Ob-Irtysh fishery region. The program, developed by multiple scientific and governmental organizations, aims to restore populations of muksun, nelma, and broad white salmon in rivers of Western Siberia that are currently in a depressed state. This initiative was discussed at the II Congress of Young Scientists, an event that strengthens the role of science in solving important societal and economic problems and attracts participants from over 25 countries.
