After a slight weakening in exports in July (which the Australian Macadamia Association attributed to overly optimistic yield estimates in California), Australian macadamia exports set a new monthly record in August. Approximately 16,764 tonnes of shelled and unshelled macadamias were shipped out in August, an increase of nearly 5% from August 2024. Domestic deliveries were 2,391 tonnes, at the upper end of the monthly sales range. This brought the total amount of macadamias delivered to domestic and international markets to 19,155 tonnes (a 4.3% increase year-on-year). Although exports to EU countries such as Germany (a 255% increase to 465 tonnes) and Spain (a 53.6% increase to 298 tonnes) have recovered year-on-year, overall exports to EU countries have decreased for this crop season.
