The Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Ayacucho announced the holding of the Festival of the Tuna, Cactaceae, Native Plants, Handicrafts, and the Hatun Tupanakuy 2026, which will take place on February 7 and 8 in the open area of the Decentralised Directorate of Culture of Ayacucho. This important event will feature the participation of tuna and cochineal producers from the entire region, with the objective of revaluing this ancestral crop with more than 10,000 years of history, recognized for its nutritional properties and its contribution to food security. Fact: Ayacucho produces more than 20,000 tons of tuna per year, which positions it as one of the main producing regions at the national level and contributes directly to the economic development of thousands of families.
