In Aydın, where the largest and highest quality artichokes in Turkey are produced, producers are troubled by the inability to claim and process the artichokes, similar to the situation with chestnuts. Produced in an area of approximately 5,000 acres, Aydın artichokes are bought from the Aydın producer for 8-10 TL each, while processed and jarred artichokes in other provinces, especially Bursa, are sold to consumers for between 40 TL and 60 TL.
