The article highlights the efforts of the Hop Phat Cooperative in Ngan Son district, Bac Kan province, in cultivating the rare and sweet Van Duc Van chestnut. This variety, a hybrid of Trung Khanh and Lang Son chestnut trees, is prized for its taste and higher market price. The cooperative has planted around 5 hectares of this chestnut tree, with some trees producing fruit within 1-2 years. The district is planning to expand this plantation to cover 100 hectares annually, with the support of specialized agencies and significant interest from the authorities. The cultivation of Van Duc Van chestnut is seen as a key strategy to reduce poverty and improve livelihoods in the area.
