The Bahia Agricultural Defense Agency (Adab) in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) of Brazil, has successfully completed the 3rd cycle of the Integrated Swine Disease Surveillance Plan, checking 1,062 blood samples from pigs across 127 properties in 74 municipalities for Classical Swine Fever (CSF). The results were negative, maintaining Bahia's CSF-free status since 2016, a situation that benefits the pig farming industry by enabling exports, boosting domestic consumption, and contributing to food security. The next cycle of surveillance is set to begin in October 2024, continuing the efforts to monitor and control swine diseases.
