On October 25, the launch ceremony for PrizeKing (Yu Bai Zi) Pop blueberries was held in Shanghai's Xintiandi, marking the official launch of Prize Yu Bai Zi fruit and Yu Qian's collaboration on the Sekoyan series of blueberries grown in Yunnan Province.

It is understood that in November 2024, Prize and Yu Qian jointly established the Honghe Yu Bai Zi Agricultural Technology Development Co., Ltd., introducing the cultivation of Sekoyan Pop blueberries in Mengzi City, Honghe Prefecture. In mid-August of this year, the new base of the joint venture officially began operations.

Liu Xiang, Marketing and Operations Manager of Prize China, told the International Fruit and Vegetable Report that the blueberry production season in South America covers July to January of the following year, while PrizeKing, through the advantageous location of its Yunnan cultivation base, precisely fills the import gap, achieving a stable supply of blueberries throughout the year. Thanks to the geographical advantage of the production area being close to the market, Yu Bai Zi has created "freshness within reach," allowing consumers to enjoy short-distance fresh fruits from the branch to the table all year round. PrizeKing Pop blueberries will be launched in small quantities in November, initially entering the first-line wholesale market for testing.

Prize's partner, Yu Qian, not only has experience in large-scale cultivation but also has over 20 years of deep involvement in the supply chain system. Yu Qian has established cold chain storage centers in East China, North China, South China, West China, and Central China, with the capability to cover nationwide channel sales, providing solid support for the full-cycle operation of Yu Bai Zi blueberries.

The Sekoyan series of blueberries was developed by the blueberry cultivation company Fall Creek, and Prize obtained the cultivation authorization last year. The Sekoyan Pop (FCM14-052) variety is not only large in size and high in sweetness but also has a crisp and refreshing taste with excellent flavor, making it very popular in the domestic market in recent years.

The Sekoyan series includes the low-chill varieties Sekoyan Pop and Sekoyan Beauty, as well as the medium to high-chill varieties Sekoyan Crunch, Sekoyan Grande, and Sekoyan Fiesta, which are suitable for cultivation in northern China. Liu Xiang added that Yu Bai Zi plans to continue introducing northern high-bush blueberries from the Sekoyan series to enrich the existing variety combination.

It is understood that the Yu Bai Zi base is located in Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan, which is in the golden latitude belt of the Tropic of Cancer, featuring a warm and humid subtropical monsoon climate with diverse ecological resources, making it one of the most suitable regions globally for blueberry cultivation. Honghe Prefecture has an average annual sunshine duration of over 2000 hours, with significant day-night temperature differences, which is conducive to the accumulation of sugar and fragrance in blueberries. The clean air and unpolluted soil in the highland areas, along with the natural high mountain snow water, make the blueberries not only fine-grained and stable in sugar content but also rich in frost and robust in flavor.
