Banana cultivation continues as one of the main activities in Brazilian fruit farming. According to data from the Municipal Agricultural Production (PAM/IBGE 2024), Brazil produced over 7 million tons of bananas in a harvested area of 469 thousand hectares, with an average productivity of 14.9 tons per hectare. In Bahia, production reached 839 thousand tons, with an average yield of 11.9 t/ha, below the national average. In Western Bahia, the use of irrigation technologies has been increasing the productive potential of the crops.
