The Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the US Department of Agriculture forecasts a rise in oilseeds production and crush in Bangladesh for marketing year 2025-26 due to increasing demand for feed and edible oilseeds. The country's total oilseed harvest is expected to reach 1.84 million tonnes, with soybean production projected to increase due to favorable weather conditions, improved marketing opportunities, and higher profitability. Soybean crushing is also anticipated to grow, with whole soybean crushing forecasted at 2.4 million tonnes. Additionally, the FAS predicts a rise in total soybean imports at 2.4 million tonnes. The Ministry of Agriculture is also taking steps to reduce import dependency of edible oil by increasing oilseed production.
