To address its domestic needs, Bangladesh has decided to import 50,000 metric tons of onion from India. This decision, made by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs under Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, follows a proposal from the Commerce Ministry. The importation will be managed by the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh in collaboration with the Indian National Cooperative Export Limited, based on a government-to-government agreement. The pricing details of the onions will be finalized and announced after the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase reviews the proposal.
