Bangladesh has achieved a record maize production of 4.87 million tons in MY 2023/24, a 7% increase from the previous year, as reported by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics. The country's agriculture ministry is aiming for a total production of 5.81 million tons for the next year, driven by an increase in maize cultivation among farmers. The Bangladesh Feed Producers Association is looking for ways to meet the industry's requirement of 6.5 million tons of maize annually, which includes importing 1-2 million tons to make up for the local shortfall. The demand for maize is on the rise due to its use in animal feed, particularly compound feed and silage production.
