REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The National Food Agency (Bapanas) assesses the increase in chili prices in several markets is triggered by weather factors, particularly the intensity of rain that disrupts the harvesting process, not due to a shortage in production. Bapanas ensures that chili production is still abundant and sufficient for needs. Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilization of Bapanas I Gusti Ketut Astawa said, the price fluctuations occur because the daily supply to the market heavily depends on the harvest conditions in production centers. When it rains, chili picking activities are hampered, so the daily supply decreases and prices move up in a short time. “In terms of production, there is a lot, we coordinate with the Ministry of Agriculture. The goods are there, production is abundant. When it rains, there is no picking,” said Ketut in Jakarta, Wednesday (24/12/2025).
