The Bulgarian Association of Greenhouse Producers (BAPOP) has requested the Ministry of Agriculture to take stronger measures to limit the spread of the Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) after it was confirmed in a greenhouse in Sandanski. In response, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Alexander Yotsev, stated that ToBRFV is not included in the EU List of Quarantine Pests or the Block List of Regulated Non-Quarantine Pests, but measures have been defined to prevent its spread within the Union. BAPOP remains concerned about the virus and urges the authorities to take more serious measures, citing examples of Germany and Italy successfully controlling the virus through disinfection and control measures.
