The global market is witnessing a prolonged reduction in barley acreage—a 15% drop over the last 6 seasons. Iraq, Morocco, Russia, and Ukraine have significantly reduced barley acreage during this period. Barley production does not cover 100% of consumer demand, so the supply deficit is being covered by reserves. This is reported by UkrAgroConsult. In the Asian region, the main buyers are China and Japan, while the main suppliers in this region remain Australia and Canada. The rest of the importers are concentrated around exporters from the Black Sea region. The European Union countries have started the barley export season very actively: 130% more than last year, which is the fastest pace in at least three years. Romania and France are the largest exporters in the EU, but Romania has already shipped 65% of its export potential for the 2025/26 season.
